Often than not, big companies removing employees due to some reasons are being sued. Companies that tries to be bad employers also get their fair share. If you are a company owner, make sure to be on the legal side all the time to avoid being sued.
Follow the labor code
Do not deviate from what the labor code is stating regarding the rights of your employee. If you are supposed to allow employees to rest for two days, then let them be. If you need them to work more than the mandated allowable working days, then pay them properly.
Do not terminate an employee for not coming to work
Are you aware that employees have a legal protection against being terminated due to leave of absence from work regardless of the reason? We have what we call protected leave and they have a retaliation protection for taking a leave. Make sure that your human resource department knew your employee rights regarding leaves of absences.
Make everything legal within the business area
Keep your employees safe. Have a safe parking lot and have a clean and safe pantry. You might be surprised for being sued for “wrongful death” due to food poisoning so be valiant in promoting cleanliness within the business premise. Have exit points and make sure you have a friendly working environment for your employees.
Sadly for corporations and companies, there are too much protection that employees can have allowing them to file for any case if they feel like they were treated wrongly. Avoid having any gap when taking care of your employees and start by providing them a great place to work with.
